I play an English Concertina, called “The Jackie” tenor concertina. I started to play the Anglo-concertina but I switched systems as I thought it would be more compatible to the Continental melodies I intended to play. I was looking for an instrument that was small and compatible for playing with other instruments.
I play melodies from the Scottish and English Borders, Highland and English melodies, also a mixture of Irish, Scandinavian and Spanish melodies.
English Concertina Lessons
I teach beginners using the melodies from the Northumbrian and Scottish Borders. How to read music as well as identify the notes by “feel”, keeping a rhythm by using the bellows, and playing basic harmonies.
Various concertina demo recordings on the “jackie” can be heard on the links to soundcloud
